How Do Pregnancy Tests Work?

A pregnancy test is sensitive to a hormone called human Chorionic Gonadotropin or hCG. This hormone is only made during pregnancy and is what pregnancy tests detect in urine. If hCG is present, the pregnancy test will be positive. If no hCG is detected, the result will be negative.

Why Do I Need To Test Again?

It’s important to confirm home-pregnancy tests with a lab-quality pregnancy test which we offer at no cost at our resource center. Sometimes home pregnancy tests can give an unreliable result based on several factors, including a defective test, testing too early, or an administering error.

Our pregnancy testing is performed and resulted by a trained staff member here at our clinic during your appointment, so there is no need to wait to receive the answers you’re looking for.

What Next?

Once you know your results, we can discuss what your next steps may be, and what is right for your unique journey. We believe in empowering you with knowledge and resources so you can make a decision you’re confident to move forward with.
